Easy Grilled Cheese

  • 2 slices bread
  • 1 slice American cheese
  • 1 tablespoon mayonnaise
  • 1 tablespoon butter (or oil substitute)
    • Grilled cheese is a diverse sandwich for any occasion. It can be made with virtually any type of cheese; it is also great as an entree or accompanied with soup. This simple recipe can be easily modified to your preference. Just be careful to use a low-flame so you don’t burn the bread.

      1. Heat a small skillet to medium.
      2. Using a butter knife, spread half of mayonnaise (or butter, oil) onto one slice of the bread, place mayo side down in the skillet.
      3. Top with cheese.
      4. Spread remaining mayonnaise (or butter, oil) onto second slice of bread and place mayonnaise side up on top of cheese.
      5. Cook 3 minutes, or until bread is toasty brown, turn and repeat.
      6. Note: Miracle Whip does not work for this, as the sugar in it tends to burn.
